Now I Need to Start My Diet--New Orleans Food

You cannot go to New Orleans without having a Bloody Mary--this one was from Royal Street Oyster House.

My last post gave you a quick tour of the French Quarter and Magazine Street.  Those are all well and good, but when you visit New Orleans the main focus has to be THE FOOD!!

When you visit New Orleans for a weekend, you have to plan which restaurants that you want to visit.  There are about 900 restaurants in New Orleans and only 3 days.  I always try to visit at least one or two new restaurants each visit (I'm lucky---my daughter lives there so I get to go a few times a year).

This visit, we decided to have Gumbo and appetizers at Royal Street Oyster House,  Late night burgers at Clover Grill, appetizers and dinner at Mr. B's, Cafe Pontalba for brunch, appetizers and Bloody Mary's at Chartres Street Bistro and dinner at Adolpho's on Frenchman's.

Shrimp and Grits from Mr. B's

Marinated Crab Claws from Royal Street Oyster House

Roasted Garlic Truffled French Fries from Mr. B's.  These were absolutely AMAZING!!!

Crab Cake with Remoulade from Mr. B's

French Bread French Toast from Cafe Pontalba

Garlic Mussles from Adolpho's

Chicken Parmesan from Adolpho's

Stuffed Cannellonis from Adolpho's

Grouper with Crab, Caper, and Spinach Sauce from Adolpho's

These were a few of the samplings from the fabulous food in New Orleans (don't mind the bad picture quality--most were from my phone).  I definitely think that we all gained at least 5 pounds on this trip, but it was definitely worth it.
