Foyer and Dining Room Updates

It's been a really long time since I've posted updates on our house.
I thought that it would be a perfect time to share our new hardwood floors once all of the Christmas decor was put away.

The Foyer

The only difference that I've added to the foyer is the addition of the Grandfather clock.
The antique chest in the foyer is the perfect place to add seasonal decor.
For the winter, I've added mercury glass candleholders, an antique copper bucket full of cotton bolls, and an antique copper plate of pomegranates.
I don't know if I will ever change my collection lilly pad plates-- I still love them!!

The Dining Room

I don't think that any room in our house was as highly impacted by the addition of the hardwood floors as the dining room.

We turned the table and moved the panels to either side of the window.
One of the best things that we did when we built our house was to add plantation shutters to our windows.  I still love them.

We also moved the bookcase from the family room to the dining room to display crystal pieces and wine decanters.

We kept the wine cage in it's original spot  and my copper cooler and trays.
The additional art work is from the family room, my absolute favorite painting, by Robert Rucker, "Manresa Revisited" and the table runner was made by me--silk fabric in chocolate animal print with velvet trim.
I've kept the same pillar candles with hurricanes adorned by beautiful jewel encrusted pins.

I plan to share more room updates soon (family room, guest bedrooms, and the office) soon.

  1. I love those lily pad plates! I would never remove them either, but if you do, send them my way. LOL.

  2. Oh my gosh, I love those plates too!!!!
