Happy Hour-Pimm's Cup

I know this is really a summertime drink, but the fruit was so beautiful at the grocery store and it really inspired me to make this beautiful drink.  I first had a Pimm's Cup at the Carousel Bar inside of the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans.  It was perfect for sipping on a hot, New Orleans day.

Pimm's No. 1 is a herbaceous gin-based liqueur with hints of orange and spice.  It is light and flavorful.  The alcohol content is relatively low, so it's perfect for having several cocktails.  It's also the official cocktail of Wimbledon-so it's kind of classy too--I said that with an English accent.

(Sorry I couldn't find a pic of the queen drinking one!!)

Pimm's Cup

1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
4 ounces ginger ale
strawberries for garnish
lemon slices for garnish
cucumber slices for garnish

Combine the Pimm's No. 1 liqueur and lemon juice in a glass.  Top wth ginger ale. Garnish with strawberries, lemon slices, and cucumber slices.

(I soaked the strawberries in the Pimm's No. I liqueur the night before to make them extra flavorful.  This cocktail is also perfect to make ahead in a pitcher and then top with ginger ale.  Perfect for easy entertaining.)

  1. This seriously sounds amazing. I clearly need to step up my cocktail game.
