Happy Hour--The Witch's Curse

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Just kidding, there is no snake, frog or tongue of dog in this cocktail, but as I was making it I thought that it would probably be the cocktail that the witch would use today to seduce Snow White. It would also work for the three Sanderson sisters in Hocus Pocus as they try to remain young. I could go on and on with the pop culture witch references (I just love Halloween movies), but I'm sure you get my meaning, right??

This cocktail is so refreshing and absolutely perfect for making someone eat a poisonous apple. A little vodka, PAMA liqueur, pomegranate juice, and topped with some hard apple cider. A wicked witch would be very motivated to stir up all kinds of havoc using this cocktail. The color is also perfect since it resembles a blood red apple. This cocktail would also be great for some easy entertaining made into a punch, just adjust the servings accordingly.

Yield: 1 cocktail

The Witch's Curse

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces pomegranate liqueur ( I used PAMA)
  • 1 ounce pomegranate juice
  • 4 ounces hard apple cider
  • pomegranate arils for garnish

  1. Combine the vodka, pomegranate liqueur, and pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake vigorously and pour into a goblet.  Top with the hard apple cider. Garnish with a few pomegranate arils.
