October Sweet Links

Happy Halloween everyone!!  I hope that everyone has a safe and happy day full of Kit-Kat bars and Reese's cups!!  Halloween is definitely one of the two best fall holidays, it and Thanksgiving, of course!

Fall is such an inspiring time of year for me. There's just something so wonderful about the weather turning cooler, the leaves starting to change colors, and the fact that I can finally pull out a few cozy sweaters. So as soon as October comes around I start craving all things comforting and cozy.  The top of the list is definitely comforting food and a cozy home atmosphere.

Here are a few recipes that scream comfort food to me...

Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Herbed White Wine Pan Sauce--This looks so amazing and I was definitely sold with sweet potato gnocchi. (I have to say that Half Baked Harvest is probably my all-time favorite food blog.  Her recipes are amazing and her photography is spot on.  Love everything about it.)

Southern Smoked Pork Chops--wow! This totally reminds me of growing up. We probably had pork chops once a week and these look amazing.

Ina Garten's Roasted Tomato Basil Soup--anything the Barefoot Contessa makes is absolutely delicious.  I mean, she is the queen.

Creamy White Chicken Caprese Lasagna--when I saw this my mouth started watering.  I cannot wait to make it.  Watch out girlfriends--this is what we are going to have on our next wine night!

Red Wine Short Ribs look absolutely to die for. My grandmother always made short ribs and if they are tender I love them so.  This recipe looks perfect.

Mushroom Chicken Parmesan Pasta--another fantastic looking comforting meal and one pot-I'm sold.

I definitely don't want to forget about the cocktails--This roundup from My Domaine shares a few delicious cocktails perfect for the big holidays.

Here are a few of my favorite comfort foods that I've shared this month-- Blackened Shrimp PoBoys with Creole Tartar Sauce,  Chocolate Fudge Doughnuts with Chocolate Ganache Glaze, Fall Cheese Board, Chargrilled Oysters Two Ways, Instapot Steak Chili, and  Garlic Parmesan Truffle Fries with Roasted Garlic Aioli.

A cozy home is also another thing that is really important to me this time of year.  Even when the weather is not quite cooperating, the sun is setting earlier and earlier.  I love to be inside all snuggled up with my sweet hubs and pups under a warm blanket smelling a favorite candle.  There is almost nothing better.

A few of my favorite blankets (perfect for inside or outside by the fire)--

In addition to snuggling up under a cozy blanket, I always have a candle burning. A great fall scent is a must and it makes your house smell wonderful.  These are a few of my favorite candles for fall--

My husband and I always host Thanksgiving at our house.  It's usually a small gathering, but I love to make a few different things each year.  Here are a few wonderful Thanksgiving Ideas that really have me inspired...

Pecan Streusel Apple Pie with the Perfect Pie Crust-this looks amazing. I can't have Pecan Pie anymore (dang corn syrup!) but I think pecan paired with apples sounds perfect.

Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup--oh my favorite and a great excuse to use my fancy- schmancy soup spoons!

These Cranberry Pecan Goat Cheese Truffles look like a fabulous appetizer.

This Sweet Potato Goat Cheese Appetizer also looks a lot like more!

A Roasted Butternut Squash Salad sounds like the perfect salad for our Thanksgiving meal...

or maybe one of these beautiful Nine Thanksgiving Inspired Low-Carb Salads.

Next up.. I've got lots of fun recipes and entertaining ideas for the upcoming Holiday season.  I'll have Thanksgiving-inspired cocktails starting this Friday and lots more Tailgating Tuesday posts coming in November.

What are your favorite fall traditions and ideas?  What is inspiring you this season?  I would love to know.
