Happy Hour--Candy Cane Cranberry Juleps

I am so excited to finally start putting up my Christmas decorations.  I don't know why, but I have been wanting to decorate for Christmas for a few months now.  I'm just so excited about it this year. We always host Thanksgiving so I usually don't decorate until after the big day.  But now it's officially Christmas season and I'm 100% down for all the Christmas cocktails, food, decorations, and celebrations!! And this cocktail is all-the-way Christmas.  Bourbon, mint, cranberry, and candy cane.  This is definitely going to be my holiday cocktail of choice this season.  (This cocktail was inspired by a cocktail that I had a Lewis Gifts holiday open house.)

Yield: 1 cocktail

Candy Cane Cranberry Julep

  • 1 teaspoon Coarse Cane sugar
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 2 ounces Bourbon
  • 3 ounces cranberry juice
  • candy cane
  • mint leaves for garnish

  1. Add sugar and mint leaves to a julep glass.  Muddle the mint and sugar to release the mint oils.
  2. Add the bourbon and cranberry juice.  Fill the glass with crushed ice and stir well.  Add a candy cane and garnish with mint leaves.  (The candy cane adds a little more sugar to the drink as it melts.  If omitting the candy cane you might want to add more sugar or simple syrup.)
