Out & About--The Catahoula Wine Mixer

This past weekend a few of my favorite ladies and I attended The Catahoula Wine Mixer in the Provenance Community. We were celebrating my friend Brittani's 35th Birthday!  This was the second year of this mixer and it is so much fun.  The mixer features wine and food from five different areas of the world--France, Italy, Latin America, California, and Oceana.

The first region that we visited was France.   This region featured cheese and charcuterie from Wine Country Bistro and some delicious French wines.  They served Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Sainte Claire, Domaine Trennes Rosé, Delas Frères Cotes du Ventoux, and Brotte Les Hauts de Barville DCP.

Next, we stopped at Oceana.  This region featured wines of the Pacific from New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia.  The food was provided by Frank's Louisiana Kitchen serving Raw and Chargrilled Oysters and a Lobster Tart.  The wines were Better Half Sauvignon Blanc, Boekenhootskloof "Wolftrap" Rose, Clos Henri Pinot Noir, and Errazuriz "Max" Cabernet Sauvignon.

We visited California for a tasty and unique tuna tartar topped with cotton candy and a spicy peanut sauce from Superior Steak House. It was absolutely delicious.

The wines we enjoyed in California were Vinum White Elephant White Blend, Donati Unoaked Chardonnay, Eberle Chardonnay, Bonny Doon Vin Gris of Grenache Rose, Ghostrunner Red Blend, and Martin Ray Cabernet Sauvignon.

We visited Italy and enjoyed some delicious Italian wines such as Due Torri Pinot Grigio, Attems "Ramato" Pinot Grigio Rose, Gran Passione Rosso (Merlot/Corvina), Guidobono Barber, and Tommasi Ripasso Valpolicella Classico.

We also enjoyed some delicious homemade pasta with a pesto sauce from Giuseppe's Pasta Caffè (Sorry, I completely forgot to take a picture of this delicious food.)

We visited Latin America which was probably the most fun.  It was located by the pool and clubhouse at the mixer and a DJ provided some great dance music.  The food was provided by El Cabo Verde  (sorry no food pic here either--I had drank quite a bit of wine at this point) and the wines were Celestia Tierra Blanco (Viognier/Macabeo), Bodegas Ilurce Graciano Rose, Lost Vineyard Tiki Sangria Red, Cuvelier Los Andes Colección Malbec, and Paxis Red Blend (Dry Port Blend).

Lastly, the mixer concluded with Sparkling Hacienda Brut and desserts from Whisk Dessert Bar.

Overall we had a great time at the Catahoula Wine Mixer and can't wait for next years event.

XO,

Sabrina
