Happy Hour--Cherry Bourbon Manhattans

With every Bourbon cocktail I make I am becoming more and more of a fan.  I mean, it's a little sweet, a little fruity, and if you are drinking the right one it's so smooth and delicious.  My problem is that I really like the single barrel kinds (you know the ones that cost quite a bit). I don't know why I can't do better with liking more inexpensive things--my budget definitely wants me to.  I've really been loving Four Roses Single Barrel and Blade and Bow.

So this cocktail started with these Bing cherries.  They are so delicious-sweet, rich, and completely decadent.  After tasting them, I knew that they would be perfect in a delicious Manhattan. I added some cherry liqueur, Sweet Vermouth, and a dash of orange bitters.  Love!

Yield: 1 cocktail

Cherry Bourbon Manhattans

  1. Place 3 drops of the orange bitters in the bottom of a coupe or martini glass.  Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the Bourbon, Vermouth, and the cherry liqueur.  Shake until well blended and pour into the glass over the bitters.  Garnish with a few cherries.
